The Dryad have four limbs.
The Dryad are not native to this plane. The Daemon Horde made use of

a number of slave races from already conquered planes. Though seemingly peace loving, the Daemon Horde made good use of the unique constitution of the Dryad for war. Often, the Daemon Horde would use toxic gas to weaken enemies, then send in the plant-people, who do not need to breathe, to finish the job. It was not something the Dryad enjoyed. When the Daemon Hordes were driven away, thousands of Dryad broke away from their cruel masters. They moved into ruins and sued for peace with their neighbors. Using their bond with plants, the Dryad became master farmers. The grain they sold to others, often at low prices, earned them the respect of the native races of Aeryn.

Patron Deity

The Dryad have long since forgotten the names of the deities from their original realm. They have yet to by adopted by an Aerynth diety.

Personality

That was fascinating! Please, show me again. I wish to learn.

—Joseph, Dryad Elder

Dryad are wildly curious and amazingly eager. They often seem to be quivering with energy. Anything new needs intense inspection. Bards who bring new songs will be asked to sing them again and again until everyone has memorized them. For the first time in millenia, the Dryad have freedom and they want to make the most of it.

Physical Description

Dryad are perhaps the most unique race in Aeryn. They resemble a whispy mushroom, with long, snake-like body. They have four short, tendril legs and four, longer arms tipped with strong and shapable leaves that serve as hands. Dryad skin is extremely smooth and shiny and can be white, grey, light green, dark red, or yellow-white. Their eyes are always two blue orbs. Dryad stand between six and eight feet tall, though they often hunch in order to conserve energy. They generally weigh between fifty and one hundred and fifty pounds.

Lifespan

Dryad have an average lifespan of sixty years and reach adulthood at the age of sixteen.

Relations with other races

While many remember the Dryad as enemies during the war, the fact that the Dryad have become the major supplier of grains to many has earned them a great deal of good will. The Dryad themselves like everybody as long as they are willing to teach. Dryad eagerness can be somewhat off-putting and annoying after a while to less patient people.
