Running Notes
The First Run
Job began on May 7, 2057
A mysterious contact connects with four individuals, suggesting there is work at the StuffitShack in Whalom if they arrive at a certain time. They do, only to get involved with a small gang holding the place up. The runners take down the gangers. Later, the mysterious contact once again communicates, telling them to expect real work in the future. And each of them get a gift...
The Second Run
Job began on May 15, 2057
Romeo, Brighid, and Munin have a meet with a Ms. Johnson, arranged by Raptor - previously known as the mysterious patron. They are hired to retrieve a ring from Brad Kenner, a city councilman. With some information provided by Raptor, they work out a plan. A method of entry is secured from the current Mrs. Kenner at the mall, thanks to Brighid's contacts and electronic skills. The runners hide in the garage, cloaked by a spirit summoned by Munin. A brief firefight occurs with Kenner's Knight-Errant bodyguards before the runners retrieve the ring and return it to Ms. Johnson.
The Spoils
- 5000 in nuyen from Ms. Johnson.
- 1000 in nuyen on certified credsticks taken from Brad Kenner.
- 2 Ares Predators.
- Manly gold chains... Priceless!
The Third Run
Job began on May 30, 2057
Romeo, Brighid, Wraith, and Whisker are subcontracted by Raptor. The job: steal an ancient Algonquin toy from the Arkham Museum of Natural History and leave a quantity of supplied blood on the scene. Recon is performed first. Wraith and Whisker investigate the outside of the museum while it is closed and discover that the guards are S-K company soldiers. They are guarding a special exhibit on loan to the museum. The entire crew investigates the inside of the museum when it opens on Monday. Romeo makes contact with an employee of the museum and charms a keycard out of her. Brighid makes use of her contacts to pick up some equipment, including a glass cutter. Wraith checks the museum's skylight to see if it is a viable point of entry. The next day, a plan is worked out. They split into two teams. Brighid and Romeo use the keycard to enter from one end of the administrative section of the museum while Wraith and Whisker defuse the alarm on a window, then cut it open so they can break into an office on the other end of the admin section. Brighid and Wraith sneak up under the cameras on the opposite ends of the hallway and use their respective datajacks and headware memory to create a loop of video. Then Romeo and Whisker walk down the hall, unseen by the security rigger. They enter his office and pull his datajack, subjecting him to dumpshock. He is then knocked unconscious and tied up. The team manages to quietly knock out one of the patrolling guards but run out of luck after that. A fight breaks out between the guards (now consisting of three S-K guardsmen and one S-K mage) and the runners. The mage and two guards are dispatched. The third guard does not engage, content to let the runners do as they will so long as they don't come near the special exhibit. The team retrieves the item, plants the blood, and for good measure steal a few other things on the way. The item is delivered to Raptor and the team receives payment.
Aftermath
Two days later, the front page story of the local screamsheets tells the story. Robert Charrette, head of the Arkham Republican Party Committee, has been arrested on suspicion of theft and attempted murder (the two guards and the mage survived thanks to timely arrival of backup). The arrest has thrown local Republican presidential election efforts into chaos.
The Spoils
- GMC Bulldog Stepvan, heavily modified.
- Imitation Pilgrim shoe buckle.
- Wooden necklace.
- Algonquin carving worth 5000 nuyen.
The Fourth Run
Job began on June 29, 2057
Brighid, Romeo, Twitch, Wraith, and Whisker are hired by the managers of the Laser Tag and Minigolf Adventure to test their new laser combat game, Shadowrunner. They are joined by two other local runners, Ronin and Strange.
The Spoils
- 5000 nuyen each
The Fifth Run
Job began on June 30, 2057Brighid is hired by Mr. Johnson to insert a chip into the mainframe at Happy Fun Time Greetings. She, in turn, enlists the aid of Twitch and Whisker. She tries to recruit Wraith and Romeo but neither is available. That evening, they discover that they are being spied on by a woman in a Ford Americar. Twitch tries to follow the woman on his motorcycle, but barely escapes when three members of the Charlies step out of the Americar and attack. After this, they realize that someone had planted a tracking device on Brighid. Worried, they decide to do research. Whisker checks out Happy Fun Time Greetings and learns that it has "exactly 2.8 times more security than other stores" in the strip mall and that the back is being used by several Asian gentlemen in business suits. Twitch's decker contact finds out that Happy Fun Times Greetings was bought out three months earlier by Green Tea Limited and has at least part of it's network off the 'trix. Finally, they contact Raptor and, for a fee, discover that their Johnson's name is Elliot Simons, the owner of Personal Greetings, a greeting store at the mall which is behind schedule in opening. They also find out that the chip contains a self-executing worm designed to erase specific information off of a mainframe. To complicate matters, Green Tea Limited is a front company for the Vietnamese mob. Raptor also arranges to "register" the GMC Bulldog and get plates. After working on a few ideas, the runners decide to simply break into the back, get to the mainframe, upload the worm, and get out. The plan is complicated, though. Three gangers, one of them fairly well chromed and armed with an SMG, a street samurai, and a tasked hearth spirit are waiting for them. While Brighid and Twitch take care of the gangers and the street samurai, Whisker has to banish the hearth spirit. The chip is inserted and they make their escape. Afterwards, Mr. Johnson is called and payment is arranged.
Aftermath
No break-in at Happy Fun Time Greetings is reported in the news. During the fight, an unknown person (possibly a decker that Whisker saw in her recon of the place) escaped through a secret door. The woman who spied on Brighid also got away. It is unknown if the Vietnamese mob cares enough about what happened to take revenge.
The Spoils
- 10000 nuyen
- Enough clothing to make 2 outfits which, at a casual glance, appear to be of fine quality
- Ingram Smartgun
The Sixth Run, part 1
Wraith is contacted by Jessica Tarot, owner of the Freedom of Thought nightclub. Superball, a young decker that Wraith knows, has gone missing. Unknown to Superball, his father put a GPS tracker in the kid's deck. The GPS stopped broadcasting earlier in the Wastes. Wraith is hired to find Superball. Wraith brings in Brighid, Twitch, and Whisker to help. They grab the bulldog, then head for the last known location of Superball's GPS. They find a pack of devil rats chewing on a corpse. The devil rats are dispatched with minimal trouble. The dead body isn't Superball's, however, but a squatter who apparently was scavaging the remains of Superball's broken cyberdeck. After analyzing the scene, the runners conclude that there are still pieces, mostly those with gold, platinum, or silver parts, are missing. Whisker decides that the best place to check for the dead man's partner is Ferar's, a make-shift market at the center of the Wastes. Ferar's place, built into the remains of a passenger train, is where Waste squatters go to sell stuff they find and buy some of the basics to live. Ferar intimates that the man who brought him the parts is dead but, for the price of something valuable from each of the runners, is willing to give information on who might have Superball. Each runner hands over something personal, then they get the information. Ferar tells them that Superball was captured by the Ghoul Enclave. The runners head off. Unfortunately, the bulldog gets stuck. While they are winching the vehicle out a wyrd mantis attacks. They kill the mantis but find themselves surrounded by ghouls. The ghouls blindfold and tie them, then take the runners to their leader, a white dragon named Dregeboron. The runners, the dragon says, have been tricked by Ferar. In fact, Superball is one of a number of people who have entered the Wastes, seemingly of their own will, then been captured by the Inheritors, a dangerous cult. Dregeborn hires the runners to find out what the Inheritors are up to. He loans them Tim, one of his best ghouls, to help.
