  • Impossibility: A person or thing with abilities that violate the established laws of science.
  • I-verse: A metagame (OOC) term for the universe in which this campaign takes place.
  • I-hero: An Impossibility that uses his abilities for the benefit of society.
  • I-villain: An Impossibility that uses his abilities to break the laws of society, usually for personal gain. Also called an I-criminal or I-terrorist.
  • Origin: The process through which an Impossibility gains his abilities.
  • Impossibility Classification System (ICS): A system developed by Hourglass (a famous I-hero and quite possibly the most brilliant mind on the planet) that classified Impossibilities based on their origin. The categories are: Accidental Mutation, Spontaneous Mutation, Mystical, Technological, Trained, Mythical, and Alien.
  • ExDim Fabric: A cloth developed by the SciTech Foundation. It exists in a 'slight state of quantum flux' and, therefore, adapts to an Impossibilities abilities. It will, for example, stretch for an elongated hero or even vanish and the reappear for a shapeshifter.
  • SciTech Foundation: A not-for-profit scientific institution, similar in make-up to the National Geographic Society, dedicated to the study of Impossibilities.
  • I-tech: Impossible technology. I-tech can rarely be reproduced by anyone but the original inventor and what little can be reproduced can't be mass produced. Even ExDim Fabric, the most common product of I-tech, can only be produced in small quantities at a time through an exacting process.
  • I-Samaritan Laws: Laws enacted on municipal and state levels protecting Impossibilities from prosecution for trying to help others. Usually the law involves a review panel which determines if an I-hero used excessive force or cruel methods in apprehending criminals or saving lives.
  • Sharooth: A race of alien 'jelly-fish' that invaded the Earth in August of 2005. Their technology is now being studied by several governments. There are rumors that surviving Sharooth are being held in secret prisons.
  • Geneva Convention Impossibility Addendum: An addition to the Geneva Convention prohibiting the use of Impossibilities in warfare.
